SWABI: Salar Munir Khan worker of Awami National Party from Maneri shot dead by unknown persons on Friday morning.

Local source said that the accused fled after the accident, while Awami National Party leaders have demanded the immediate arrest of the killers. The police reached the scene, collected evidence and started a preliminary investigation into the incident. An FIR has been registered in the Swabi police station for the murder of the victim, while the police said that the escaped killers will be arrested soon.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused suddenly opened fire, as a result of which Munir Khan died on the spot. Security has been tightened in the area and the police are busy searching for possible suspects. It should be noted that on November 11, 2025, unknown persons shot and killed Awami National Party (ANP) leader and former Nazim Awal Khan on Civil Quarters Road in Peshawar, while his companion Karamat son of Karim was injured.

The deceased Awal Khan was a former councillor of the Awami National Party and a well-known social figure. According to the police, the incident took place within the limits of Bhana Mari police station, where he was targeted. Awal Khan also had his own office in Dabgari Garden. According to the police, the deceased was also involved in the car parking and hotel sectors in addition to the property business.

On July 10, 2025, Awami National Party leader Maulana Khanzeb and a police officer were killed in firing by unknown persons in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while three people were injured. Maulana Khan Zeb was campaigning in the area in connection with the ‘Aman Pasun Jirga’ when he was targeted by firing at Shindai Mor, from which he could not survive, while a policeman was also killed.

The FIR states that Maulana Khan Zeb was returning home from the peace rally campaign when unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle, resulting in the death of him and a police constable. The year 2025 proved to be a terrible for the Awami National Party, as another worker died in firing in Sawab.
