BANNU: Hussain Shah Yousafzai, Provincial General Secretary of the Awami National Party (ANP), has criticized the unity and effectiveness of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aaeen Pakistan (TTAP) alliance.

Speaking to the media during his visit to Bannu, Yousafzai highlighted the recent events as evidence of the alliance’s failure. He noted that key PTI leaders were absent, and the protest movement could not gain traction among the public.

He criticized PTI’s 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming the party failed to present any effective strategies for the province’s development, and asserted that the public has once again rejected PTI’s politics. According to Yousafzai, TTAP currently offers no practical benefits and its member parties are unlikely to agree on a common agenda in the future.

Yousafzai praised ANP Senator Aimal Wali Khan as a strong and decisive voice for the Pashtun community in the Senate, saying that even political opponents acknowledge his positions and actions, particularly on matters related to the establishment.

He presented his viewpoint about the ANP’s accomplishments in running the government and negotiating agreements and fighting terrorists while developing public works during his time in office from 2008 to 2013. He claimed that PTI and court-martialled officials permitted extremist groups to establish their operations which created ongoing security problems in southern districts, including Bannu and Lakki Marwat and Tank and D.I Khan.

The provincial government needs to enhance its law enforcement capabilities, according to him while he explained that political leaders must handle their legal disputes through court proceedings, and they should abide by judicial outcomes which he demonstrated through the historical examples of Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan who adhered to democratic and constitutional methods. Yousafzai expressed his condolences to ANP Senator Haji Baz Muhammad Khan Advocate about the death of his sister while he prayed for the soul of the deceased.

He confirmed that ANP would continue to defend Pashtun rights together with democratic principles and constitutional supremacy.
