PESHAWAR: Provincial President of the Awami National Party (ANP), Mian Iftikhar Hussain has called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to promptly pay the overdue salaries of doctors in the merged districts.

While addressing a protest demonstration held by doctors under the AIP scheme in front of the Health Department, Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated that the ANP fully supports the legitimate demands of doctors, including promotions, regularisation, and the payment of suspended salaries.

He emphasised that it is grossly unjust to deprive doctors in the merged districts of their salaries for several months, urging the government to resolve this issue immediately. Mian Iftikhar Hussain called for prioritising essential sectors such as health, education, and employment, and insisted that the government must put an end to the misuse of public resources for corruption.

He noted that the people of Pakhtunkhwa have made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and unrest. However, he criticised the current government for failing to address public problems. He encouraged individuals from various professional backgrounds—doctors, teachers, businessmen, and others—to unite and advocate for their rights, warning that fragmented movements are less effective. Mian Iftikhar Hussain affirmed that if the state neglects its responsibilities, the public will defend their rights through peaceful and legal means. He concluded by assuring that the ANP will continue to voice and support the demands of doctors across all platforms.
