PESHAWAR: Central President of Awami National Party (ANP), Senator Aimal Wali Khan has made it clear that his party would not support any government that was formed through horse-trading in the province.
Commenting on the current political scenario in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the removal of CM Ali Amin Gandapur, Aimal Wali Khan said that he was more and more sympathizing with Ali Amin Gandapur. He remarked that Ali Amin had always remained with him even during the security issue when the criticism Khan had directed at him was, in his opinion, minimal.
ANP chief raised the question why Ali Amin Gandapur had been removed and whether it was because he was unable to deliver, was corrupt, or was it because those who had criticized other parties for dynastic politics, were indeed, pushing their own member out. He demanded that such clarifications be given to the people.
When speaking during his Senate address, Aimal Wali Khan touched on the three points that were the basis of their struggle: compliance with Pakistan’s Constitution, support of provincial rights under the 18th amendment, and the aspiration of real peace for the country. He pointed out that a federation is strong only when its provinces are granted their rightful places.
On the topic of his Senate remarks and briefing by the Prime Minister on the US visit, Khan remarked that such briefings should be given to Parliament as a whole because the institution is more important than individuals. The Prime Minister explained that the gift Aimal mentioned was not related to any mineral deal but rather a personal gift that the Army Chief bought for former US President Trump.
