PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s capital Peshawar has turned unsafe for transgender community as another member of the vulnerable community was shot dead in the broadday daylight in Peshawar’s busy area Hassan Garhi.
According to the police, a transgender person, Basit alias Bajli, son of Momin, resident of Safid Deri, was murdered in Hassan Garhi under the limits of Faqirabad police station.
As soon as the incident was reported, local police officers reached the spot and shifted the body for a postmortem.
The police have started an investigation from various angles to trace the accused or accused involved in light of three shell casings and other important evidence found at the scene.
The heirs of the deceased have been informed, and a case will be registered after receiving their report and correspondence.

The Chief Capital Police Officer, Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed, has launched an inquiry against three Station House Officers (SHOs) of various police stations of the city over allegations of financial corruption.
During an extensive meeting aimed at addressing the rising crime rates in the provincial capital, Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed ordered the three SHOs to report to the line. The officers from Phandu, Pakhta, and Sharqi police stations have been removed from their posts due to these allegations and poor performance.
Reliable sources indicated that it was revealed during the meeting that some members of the encroachment mafia had fled the country during an operation. A plan was devised to facilitate their return, allowing them to face legal consequences in court.
Dr Mian Saeed emphasised that there is no place for criminals and the encroachment mafia in Peshawar, asserting that these individuals will be severely punished as a deterrent to others.
The five-hour meeting focused on strategies for controlling crime in the area.
