KARACHI: The Funeral of a minor boy, Dilber, who died after falling into an open manhole in Karachi, was held in the Korangi area on Tuesday.
Dilbar, who died in Korangi, was the only survivor of his parents. He fell into the sewerage line due to an open manhole while playing outside the house. His uncle pulled out the body. The father of 8-year-old Dilbar, who died after falling into the sewer, talking to the media, said that they were overwhelmed with grief over the tragic loss of their only child.
Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad visited the child’s house and expressed his condolences to the family. He said that the UC chairman had been given covers to install on the sewers ten days ago and that those responsible for the tragedy would be severely punished. It was not the first incident. A few weeks ago, a minor fall a victim of the same tragedy, which was the only son of the parents in Karachi city. The authorities are least bothered to provide municipal facilities to the citizens despite ruling Karachi for a long period of time.
