ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to increase the price of kerosene oil by a steep margin after a steep rise in petrol and diesel prices, putting pressure on the people. According to a notification issued by the government, the price of kerosene oil has been increased by Rs. 34.08 per liter, taking it to Rs. 467.48 per liter.
This decision has been taken in wake of a steep increase in petrol and diesel prices last week. The price of petrol was increased by Rs. 137.23 per liter, while that of diesel was increased by Rs. 184.49 per liter. At present, petrol is sold at Rs. 458.40 per liter, while diesel is sold at a record high price of Rs. 520.35 per liter.
In a press conference held in Islamabad, Minister of Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik said that a steep rise in petrol and diesel prices has been caused due to the current geopolitical situation, particularly due to the war in Iran, as a result of which the price of crude oil has gone up to over $250 a barrel. This has caused an energy crisis all over the world.
