KHYBER: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized a huge quantity of drugs in a major operation in Shakus area of Khyber. The operation was carried out on the basis of credible intelligence reports.
According to sources, an ANF team conducted an operation in a rocky and difficult area of Shakus, where drug peddlers had hidden 144 kg hashish. According to reports, the drugs were to be smuggled to Punjab at night.
ANF officials said that during the operation, four propylene bags were recovered, which contained 120 packets of hashish. Each packet weighs about 1.2 kg.
Initial investigations have revealed that the recovered drugs belong to a notorious drug gang from Bara, which belongs to the Afridi tribe. Sources say that this gang also has close links with some influential politicians of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to ANF sources, evidence has been collected from the spot after the operation and a case has been registered as per the law. Further investigations are underway to get access to other members of this network.
The ANF spokesperson has said that this successful operation is a continuation of the mission to rid Pakistan of the scourge of drugs. He added that the force will continue to carry out indiscriminate operations against drug peddlers in all parts of the country.
