PESHAWAR: Federal Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam, has delivered a blunt message regarding repeated road closures in the province, highlighting the severe difficulties faced by the public and the disruption to daily life.
In a video statement, Mr Muqam said that blocking highways and key routes in the name of protest was causing immense hardship to ordinary citizens, traders, transporters and daily wage earners. He noted that patients, students and business owners were among those most affected by the closures.
He emphasised that public life had been paralysed due to frequent blockades, with economic activity slowing down and transport systems facing major setbacks. “The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should not be made to suffer for political motives,” he said.
The federal minister urged the provincial authorities to ensure that roads remain open and that law and order are maintained to protect public interests. He stressed that while peaceful protest was a democratic right, it should not come at the expense of citizens’ livelihoods and safety.
Mr Muqam called for immediate measures to restore normalcy and provide relief to the people, adding that the welfare of the public must remain the top priority.
