PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and President Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Amir Muqam criticised Chief Minister Sohail Afridi visits to Karachi, saying the province is grappling with severe financial, administrative and security challenges.
In a statement, Amir Muqam said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing one of its worst governance crises, but the chief minister appeared more focused on what he termed unnecessary political visits instead of addressing pressing public issues.
He said hospitals in the province are facing shortages of medicines, while incidents of terrorism were on the rise.
The PML-N leader alleged that the government’s position in the province had weakened and the law and order situation had deteriorated to an alarming level.
He added that universities are struggling with acute financial problems, leaving teachers and staff deprived of timely salaries.
Muqam also pointed to what he described as the collapse of provincial infrastructure, saying development projects had stalled and basic facilities were unavailable to large segments of the population.
The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are yearning for basic services, but the chief minister’s performance remains zero, he said.
Criticising the chief minister’s frequent visits to other provinces, Muqam said that while the CM travelled to Punjab and Sindh, his own province continued to be neglected.
He accused the provincial leadership of prioritising political activities over governance and public welfare.
He stressed that the province did not need further political experiments but required effective governance, a clear direction and strong leadership to steer it out of crisis.
