PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam on Sunday termed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Peshawar a “flop show,” claiming it was boycotted not only by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also by PTI’s own supporters.

In a statement issued from Peshawar, Muqam said the event reflected the party’s declining influence, adding that PTI workers had already failed in their campaign for the release of Imran Khan. “Like the disastrous failure of their movement for Khan’s release, PTI has now failed to gather people in KP,” he remarked.

The minister compared the rally to “India’s Operation Sindoor,” saying PTI’s “Operation Mischief” had also “turned to ashes.” He accused PTI leaders of prioritising internal power struggles over securing their founder’s release, while the public had “buried the politics of mischief and anti-nationalism with their unity.”

Muqam further said PTI had abandoned the people of KP during devastating floods, yet was now wasting billions of rupees on “failed shows of power.” He argued that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s achievements at home and abroad had thwarted the conspiracies of PTI and “enemies of Pakistan.”

Criticising the provincial government, he said KP was under the grip of terrorism but PTI remained focused on rallies instead of its responsibility to maintain law and order. “This apathetic government neither cares about the safety of people’s lives and property nor about the sacrifices of the brave soldiers martyred in the fight against terrorism,” Muqam added.
