PESHAWAR: A significant amendment motion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Rules and Business 2025 was presented in the Provincial Assembly today, aiming to broaden linguistic inclusivity within the House.

The amendment, introduced by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Aftab Alam, proposes the inclusion of Seraiki and Gujri languages alongside English, Urdu, Pashto, and Hindko, which are already in use.

During the discussion, MPA Sardar Ayaz expressed his views in the Gujri language, marking a symbolic moment in the Assembly’s history. “I thank this House on behalf of the entire Gujri nation,” he said, describing the move as “a great step in history.”

He further emphasised that the Gujjar community represents a significant portion of the province’s population and welcomed the recognition of their language in official Assembly proceedings.

Sardar Ayaz also suggested that the Kohistani dialect be included in the future, underscoring the importance of linguistic diversity and representation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s legislative affairs.

The amendment motion reflects ongoing efforts to promote multilingual participation and cultural inclusivity in the province’s governance.
