Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Ali Muhammad Khan called on the party’s political leadership to take bold and decisive decisions, saying those unable to do so should step aside.

Ali Muhammad Khan said the party must speak frankly, adding that half-measures would not pave the way for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

He said the only viable solution lay in political dialogue or, alternatively, in launching a nationwide, peaceful protest to pressure the government into releasing the former prime minister.

Referring to the party leadership, Ali Muhammad Khan said that if anyone was unable to take a decisive step, they should relinquish their position. We must speak clearly to the government. We do not want to turn the PTI founder into Bhutto; we want him released alive, he added.

Responding to a question, the PTI leader said Imran Khan himself had included him in the party’s political committee, but the current leadership later removed him. Despite this, he said he continued to support the new leadership and committee members.

Ali Muhammad Khan also said that if the PTI founder was suffering from any medical condition, doctors should be allowed to examine him. He suggested that Dr Faisal Sultan or a medical team from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital should be permitted to meet Imran Khan.

He said Shaukat Khanum doctors had a proven track record and had always confined themselves to medical matters, avoiding political commentary. Allowing them to meet the PTI founder would help resolve the issue, he added.

The PTI MNA said the party was hopeful of relief and sought access to meet Imran Khan. He also welcomed the meeting between Chief Justice of Pakistan and PTI leader Salman Akram Raja, saying it was a positive development despite having taken place later than expected.

Ali Muhammad Khan expressed optimism that doctors would be allowed to meet the PTI founder.
