ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, has filed a contempt petition against Superintendent Adiala Jail, Home Secretary, and Minister for Interior Muhsin Naqvi, requesting the court to take action against the responsible persons for not obeying the court order.
In the petition, Aleema Khan has claimed that the Islamabad High Court had directed a meeting between her and Imran Khan, but the government failed to comply with the order. Aleema Khan has requested the court to take contempt of court action against the responsible authorities for violating the order. She said that the court had summoned Imran Khan for a meeting on her request, but the government is delaying in complying with the order.
In the petition, Aleema Khan has further requested the court to punish the law violator due to disregard of the court’s decision, which falls under the category of contempt of court. The petition filed by Aleema Khan said that Imran Khan’s refusal to meet her was not only a violation of the court order, but could also be considered interference in his personal status and family matters.
The case may seem personal in nature, but since it falls under the jurisdiction of the Islamabad High Court, its legal significance also increases. Contempt of court is considered a serious crime in Pakistan’s judicial system, and if the court takes action against the violating the order, then they could convene the Minister of Interior and Home Secretary in this matter.
