PESHAWAR: Awami National Party Central President Senator Aimal Wali Khan paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Army Public School attack and said that December 16, 2014, is the darkest day in the history of Pakistan.
The story of cruelty and barbarity that was written in Peshawar on that day is unparalleled in history. On the occasion of the 11th anniversary, we pay tribute to the martyrs of this tragic incident.
ANP Central President Aimal Wali Khan said that the families affected by this great tragedy are still waiting for justice from the state. The characters and facilitators involved in the incident are still roaming free today. After the tragedy, a unified action plan was drawn up in the form of the National Action Plan against terrorism but it was not implemented.
It is still a unified national document today, but its partial implementation has weakened its effectiveness. The result is that today, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is once again in the grip of terrorism and extremism. Aimal Wali Khan further said that the war against terrorism cannot be won with guns and bullets alone.
The question is, did the state really take an honest account of the intellectual, social and political causes of extremism? Was the path of narratives that foster hatred and violence stopped? If not, then the state needs to be held accountable.
The punishment of terrorists and their facilitators is very clear in the National Action Plan. Let us repeat once again what action has been taken against those who resettled forty thousand terrorists in Pakhtunkhwa till date?
If indiscriminate action is not taken against every form of terrorism, every facilitation and every patronage, such incidents will continue to happen again and again. Aimal Wali Khan further said that the ANP expresses its heartfelt sympathy and complete solidarity with the families of all the martyrs of the Army Public School tragedy.
We resolve to continue raising our voice against terrorism for the safe future of our children. We will continue our political and democratic struggle together for a peaceful, constitutional struggle for democratic Pakistan.
