KABUL: Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has made it clear that Afghanistan prioritizes peaceful coexistence in the region as an independent and sovereign capacity, and does not accept the influence of any country.

In an interview given to Afghan media, Zabihullah Mujahid said that Afghanistan has always formulated its foreign policy as an independent state, which is completely based on national interests. He rejected the impression that Afghanistan works under the influence of a third country. The spokesman said that Afghanistan’s relations with India are completely independent and have nothing to do with Pakistan. He said that these relations have never been anti-Pakistan nor have they aimed to establish an alliance against any country. Zabihullah Mujahid said that the Taliban government’s foreign policy is based on the principle of establishing relations with all countries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and sovereignty. He stressed that Afghanistan will not become a pawn of any external power.

He further said that Afghanistan wants an atmosphere of stability, peace, and cooperation to be established in the region, and under this thinking, relations with all countries will be promoted.
