KABUL: Kabul’s main international airport has been completely shut down due to a nationwide blackout of the internet in Afghanistan, severely disrupting both internal and external communications.

According to international news agencies, the blackout of the internet has had a drastic impact on such fundamental services as banking and remote teaching. The airport, usually busting with activity, is now reported to be virtually empty with no takeoffs or landings.

A neighbor close to the airport said, “There are no signs of flights, and the airport is almost empty.” On Tuesday, several flights to and from Kabul were canceled, and the status of many more is uncertain.

Travelers who would like to fly to Kabul have been informed that flights will not arrive earlier than Thursday. Another local source informed us that all of the flights were canceled starting from Monday night.
