ABBOTTABAD: Police have arrested a nominated suspect following a fight between students at a university in Abbottabad.

The action was taken on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad Haroon Rashid Khan and under the supervision of SP Havelian Division and DSP Circle Havelian. SHO Havelian Police Station, Cadet Abdul Ghafoor, led the operation.

According to police officials, a clash broke out between university students, after which a case was registered against the nominated suspects. Acting swiftly, police arrested the main accused, identified as Hassan Khan, son of Ilyas Khan, a resident of Joray Meera Langra.

Police also recovered a 30-bore pistol, allegedly used in the incident, from the suspect’s possession.

A formal case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

One life lost, several injured in Abbottabad University incident

Yesterday, a student was killed, and two others were injured when a clash erupted between two student groups at the University of Science and Technology Abbottabad in the Havelian area of Abbottabad here on Wednesday afternoon.

Azam Sher Afzal, spokesperson for the Abbottabad police, told Pakhtun Digital that a clash had erupted between two student groups in the limits of Havelian police station, resulting in the killing of a student and the injury of two others.

According to initial information, Abdullah, son of Khanzada, age 23, resident of Kelag Haripur, was killed, while Ahsan, son of Asif, resident of Mirpur, and Rehan, son of Abdul Shakoor, resident of Kehal, were injured. Other investigations are underway.

The police spokesperson said that the police party has controlled the situation, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
