LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally unveiled the squad for the national team of Pakistan for the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes tournament. The first pick and pacer Abbas Afridi is leading the players, and he is given the responsibility to take his team to victory in this thrilling tournament of T20 style, which is nothing but a great challenge.

The tournament will take place in Hong Kong from November 7-9, 2025. A total of twelve teams will participate in four groups of three, with Group C being made up of Pakistan, India and Kuwait.

The Hong Kong Sixes will be a true festival of cricket, with teams only having to face the fast-paced format of six overs per team. India and all the other excellent teams will present a challenge, but Pakistan will look to show their strength with their performance.

Earlier on Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Shaheen Afridi as captain to lead Pakistan cricket team in one day Internationals (ODI).

The PCB announced the decision after a crucial meeting held in Islamabad on Monday. The meeting was attended by the PCB top office designatories and selection committee members.

PCB in a statement said that Shaheen Afridi would lead the team in South Africa matches.

Shaheen Afridi, a left-arm fast bowler, will captain Pakistan in a three-match One-Day International series against South Africa, scheduled to take place at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from November 4 to 8.

His appointment as captain was announced today following a meeting in Islamabad, which included white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, director of high performance Aqib Javed, and members of the selection committee.

The 25-year-old has participated in 66 ODIs and 92 T20Is for Pakistan, during which he has taken a total of 249 wickets. In 32 Test matches, excluding the ongoing second Test against South Africa at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Shaheen has claimed 120 wickets.

Previously, Shaheen has captained Pakistan in five T20 International matches on home soil against New Zealand in 2024.
