CHITRAL: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Daanish School in Chitral on Friday, reaffirming his government’s commitment to promoting quality education and socio-economic development in the remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their bravery and patriotism, highlighting their crucial role in the progress and security of Pakistan.

He noted that his elder brother, former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has always been dedicated to the development of Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chitral.

The Daanish Schools are designed to provide world-class education to children from underprivileged families in less developed regions of the country. “Daanish Schools are on par with Aitchison College in terms of quality education and facilities, but they are specifically for the children of ordinary people,” he remarked. “These institutions offer free boarding, education, sports, and all modern amenities.”

Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that the standard of education at the Daanish School in Chitral would exceed that of many established institutions in the country. He also offered full cooperation to the newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, indicating that the federal government would provide complete support for the province’s development. “I assured him that the federal government will extend its full support to the KP government for the welfare of the people,” he added.

He highlighted various federal initiatives, including the distribution of 100,000 laptops to top-performing students across the country as part of the recently launched PM’s National Laptop Scheme. The Prime Minister also announced several new development projects for Chitral, such as the establishment of a gas plant, a hospital, and a university in Upper Chitral. He directed that the issue of electricity tariffs in Upper Chitral be addressed as a priority.

Shehbaz Sharif informed attendees that work on the 153-kilometre Chitral–Shandur Road was already underway and would be completed next year, while the 46-kilometre Chitral–Buni Road is set to be finished by May. He also announced that the 7-kilometre Lawari Tunnel project has been completed.

The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to eliminating terrorism and promoting peace and prosperity throughout Pakistan. He commended the armed forces for their sacrifices and professionalism, particularly under the leadership of Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and other service chiefs.

Additionally, he acknowledged the historic diplomatic intervention by U.S. President Donald Trump, which helped defuse tensions between Pakistan and India and prevented a potential escalation.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON Engr. Amir Muqam stated that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan’s economy is progressing in the right direction. He praised the Prime Minister’s administrative skills and diplomatic efforts in strengthening the country’s global image.
