PESHAWAR: After federal government’s order to stop the sale of products with toxic chemicals, authorities have launched a large-scale operation to eliminate substandard and hazardous skin-whitening creams in Peshawar and other cities.

As per the Federal Food and Drug Authority (FFDA), over 60 brands of skin-whitening creams that are being sold in local markets were detected to have mercury and other harmful substances in extremely high concentrations.
