ISLAMABAD: A new question has arisen over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) social media conduct after party leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Shaukat Yousafzai made statements disassociating themselves from YouTubers based abroad.

On one hand, party leaders describe these YouTubers as harmful to PTI, while on the other, videos and commentaries of the same YouTubers are seen being promoted on PTI’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. This contradiction further highlights questions related to the party’s social media policy and the actual control of its narrative.

Images circulating on social media show several posts from PTI’s official X account, bearing dates of October 12, 14, and 17. These posts appear to include videos and political commentaries by various YouTubers.

In this context, the question is: if the activities of these YouTubers are harming the party, why is their content being given space on the official platform? Does the party’s social media team share this content under its own policy, or is some other strategy being adopted in this regard?

This matter has gained more importance in light of Shaukat Yousafzai’s accusation that overseas YouTubers are harming the party and Barrister Gohar’s stance of disassociation. If the party leadership does not consider these YouTubers as its representatives, then the leadership itself will have to explain the promotion of their content on the official account.

Against the backdrop of this same contradiction, a sarcastic question is also being raised on social media: who actually runs PTI? The Goldsmith family, the British secret agency MI6, the American secret agency CIA, or all of them?

This question has emerged as political satire and speculation; however, the available images are not evidence of control of the party by any foreign family or secret agency. The real question is who makes the decisions regarding PTI’s political narrative and social media strategy? Can the party leadership maintain consistency between its stance and the content posted on its official account? If overseas YouTubers are harming the party, why is their content allowed to be shared on the official platform?

The contradiction between the statements of Barrister Gohar and Shaukat Yousafzai and the posts seen on PTI’s official account requires clarification. The party leadership will have to clarify what its relationship is with these YouTubers and under whose decisions its social media policy is operating.
