LAHORE: Pakistan will face England in the fourth match of the ODI tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday (tomorrow), aiming to secure a place in the final, while England will fight to keep their hopes alive.
Pakistan are currently at the top of the points table, while England are at the bottom after losing their opening two matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A victory would take Pakistan into the final of the three-team series, while another defeat would leave England facing elimination.
England, the 2019 champions, need a win to revive their campaign after suffering consecutive defeats. They also have a negative net run rate of 0.892, adding to the pressure ahead of the Lahore clash. Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to continue their strong start to the tournament and confirm their place in the final before their remaining league match against Sri Lanka on October 27.
The national team has also begun preparations for the upcoming matches at Gaddafi Stadium. During their first training session, batting coach Mike Smith worked closely with the batters and all-rounders, including Shadab Khan. The players also took part in bowling and fielding drills under the supervision of the coaching staff.
Pakistan will rely on their batting, bowling and fielding performances to overcome England and secure a place in the title decider. After Sunday’s match, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on October 27, while Sri Lanka and England will meet on October 29. The tri-series final is scheduled for October 31, also at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
