PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has decided to implement a Human Resource (HR) attendance application in all government schools across the province.

According to a notification issued by the department, the attendance of teachers and all staff in government schools and education offices will now be marked through the mobile app.

The department has made the implementation of the app mandatory from 22nd October 2026. In this regard, instructions have been issued to all District Education Officers (DEOs) across the province.

Sources said the HR attendance app is now available on the Google Play Store and all teachers have been directed to download and register themselves immediately. The department will hold a review meeting on 27th October under the chairmanship of the Adviser to the Chief Minister on Education to assess the progress and address any technical issues faced by teachers.

Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring 100 percent attendance of teachers, bringing transparency in the system and ending the practice of proxy attendance. The app will use geo-fencing and real-time location to verify the presence of staff inside school premises.

The department has warned that strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the new attendance system. It may be mentioned that previously, manual registers were used for attendance, which often led to complaints of absenteeism and fake entries.
