PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Peshawar on Thursday for a crucial one-day visit focused on security, governance, and political developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar are accompanying the Prime Minister. According to official sources, the Prime Minister’s engagements include several high-level meetings, most notably a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee.

During the Apex Committee meeting, the Prime Minister will be given a comprehensive briefing on the overall law and order situation, counter-terrorism operations, and other administrative matters in KP.

Top civil and military leadership of the province are expected to attend. A separate high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister will be held at the Governor House Peshawar, where the province’s political situation and recent developments will be reviewed.

Sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to announce a special welfare package for the families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the war against terrorism – a move seen as a major morale booster for security forces.

Due to security measures for the PM’s visit, Sher Shah Suri Road and Airport Road in Peshawar have been closed to general traffic. Traffic police have advised citizens to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was scheduled to visit Peshawar on October 20, but the visit was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The rescheduled visit is being given high importance in view of the recent security challenges in the province.
