KHYBER: A court has ordered sending 20 workers of PTI tehsil Bara in Khyber district to jail on judicial remand in connection with alleged involvement in unrest in the area.
According to the available information, the workers were sent to jail under the court’s order. A legal move is expected to secure their release, with a bail application likely to be filed in the next stage of the proceedings.
A statement regarding the workers said preparations were under way to approach the court for bail. The application will seek their release on the basis of the legal arguments presented before the court.
However, the workers’ release will depend on the filing of the bail application and the court’s decision on the matter.
Judicial remand means that accused persons are placed in jail custody under a court order rather than remaining in police custody for further investigation.
It is worth mentioning here that following the imposition of governor’s rule in KP, the then ruling PTI workers have reportedly started protests that led to law and order situation and the thus the police arrested more than 50 people in Bara teshil of Khyber district over alleged involvement in violent incidents.
