ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has ordered the temporary closure of two major weekly bazaars in the federal capital from October 16, 2026, due to failure to meet fire safety standards.

According to details, the bazaars will remain closed until they obtain the required fire safety clearance from the relevant authorities.

The administration has made formal fire safety verification and approval from Capital Emergency Services and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) mandatory for the reopening of the markets.

The decision was issued with the approval of the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI). No definitive date has been announced for the reopening of the bazaars.

Officials have made it clear that the markets will remain shut until the required safety standards are met and clearance is granted by the relevant departments.
