ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that suspended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will be disqualified, while predicting that the emergency and governor’s rule in the province may continue until 2029.

Talking to ARY News channel, Vawda said the emergency and governor’s rule would not come to an end anytime soon, claiming that the current arrangement could remain in place until 2029.

Commenting on Afridi’s suspension and his political future, the senator asserted that there was little doubt in his mind that the KP chief minister would eventually be disqualified.

Using a business analogy, Vawda remarked that when a shop or business closes, a new signboard is put up, suggesting that a change in the province’s political setup could be forthcoming.

Vawda further claimed that he had predicted around 10 months earlier that governor’s rule, an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Afridi’s disqualification and a possible ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could become realities.

The senator also made remarks about Rana Sanaullah, saying that his “system, software and phone” needed to be rebooted.

Discussing the possibility of a 28th Constitutional Amendment, Vawda said that if the amendment was introduced, it would be passed in the same manner as the 27th Amendment; otherwise, he suggested, a political or administrative “reboot” could follow.

Vawda’s remarks come amid political uncertainty surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s governance and the future of its chief minister.
