PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has directed authorities to minimise gas load-shedding for domestic consumers during winter and ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to industrial units in the province.
He issued the directives during a meeting with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Acting Managing Director Faisal Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director Sadiq Arbab and Deputy Chief Admin Zia-ul-Islam at the Governor House in Peshawar.
During the meeting, Kundi was briefed on ongoing gas and energy security projects in the province. Acting MD Faisal Iqbal also informed the governor about the challenges and issues faced by SNGPL in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The governor stressed the need to ensure gas supplies to industrial units to help create employment opportunities for the province’s youth.
He also called for practical proposals to address gas-related issues in the province, emphasising that public grievances should be resolved promptly.
Kundi said SNGPL’s gas system had a total supply of 800 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) nationwide, of which 500 mmcfd was produced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He maintained that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should receive the benefits of the province’s gas and natural resources.
