ISLAMABAD: A new worldwide study has shown that AI applications such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini have reached more than one billion active users, and this is a major step in the development of digital technology.

The Digital 2026 Report, which consists of 700 pages, states that AI platforms are rapidly growing beyond the first users and entering the mass market, which is a clear sign of a change in the way people will use technology.

The report mentions that this phenomenon has caused a chain reaction that has affected the entire internet and has led to a considerable decrease in the use of conventional search engines since users are turning to conversational AI tools more for information, help, and content creation.

Simon Kemp, a data analyst and one of the report’s authors, said that AI tools are changing online behavior since they are faster and more personalized compared to the traditional search engines.

“AI is allowing users to get information in a way that is much more intuitive and efficient than that of the conventional search engine,” Kemp said. “This transition is changing the process of answering questions, making decisions, and even teaching oneself new abilities.”
