ABBOTTABAD: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has issued a notification imposing Section 144 in parts of the district in view of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examinations and the President’s Parade at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul.

The restrictions will remain in force during specified periods from October 7 to November 6, 2026, with different prohibitions applicable on particular dates and at designated locations.

Authorities have warned that violations of the orders will invite legal action under the relevant laws.

Restrictions Around Examination Centres

Under the notification, gatherings, the sale of material used for cheating, the operation of photocopy machines and the use of mobile phones will be prohibited within a 200-yard radius of examination centres.

These restrictions will apply only on examination days between October 7 and November 6, 2026.

The measures aim to prevent cheating, maintain discipline and ensure a peaceful environment for students appearing in the annual examinations.

Prohibition on Protests, Drones and Kite Flying

The district administration has also imposed restrictions on public protests and gatherings from October 13 to 17.

The use of drones and quadcopters, along with kite flying, will be prohibited from October 12 to 17 as part of the security arrangements.

Firing, mining and blasting activities will also remain prohibited from October 15 to 17.

Loudspeaker Ban Around PMA Kakul

According to the notification, the use of loudspeakers will be prohibited within a five-kilometre radius of PMA Kakul from October 13 to 17.

The restriction will apply daily between 7am and noon to prevent noise and minimise disruptions during the scheduled activities at the military academy.

Additional Restrictions on October 15 and 17

The administration has announced further restrictions at specified locations on October 15 and 17.

These include restrictions on opening shops at designated places, parking vehicles at petrol and CNG stations, the movement of Afghan nationals along PMA Road and pillion riding on motorcycles.

The notification specifies that these measures will apply to the designated locations and dates as part of the security arrangements surrounding the President’s Parade.

Legal Action for Violations

The district administration has directed the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with the restrictions throughout the specified periods.

Officials have warned that anyone found violating the orders will face action in accordance with the law.

The measures have been introduced to maintain law and order, protect examination activities and ensure security during events at PMA Kakul.

Residents, traders, students and commuters have been advised to observe the restrictions applicable to their areas and plan their activities accordingly.
