US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, joked that he is not being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, but Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif got ‘emotional’ as he credited him with saving millions of lives.

While praising his peacekeeping efforts during a dinner at the White House, saying that the Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently met him and emotionally told a group that he had saved millions of lives by stopping several wars. “In fact, the prime minister of Pakistan came, and he told me, and he was emotional about it. He said in front of a group of people that this man saved three million to five million, probably countless lives,” the US president said. “And this has happened recently, and we have taken many such steps. And one of the reasons for that was trade.”

At the signing ceremony of the Gaza ceasefire agreement document that same week, Shehbaz Sharif praised President Trump’s “exemplary leadership.”

Standing with Trump in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, Shehbaz Sharif said, “Today is one of the greatest days in modern history, because peace has been established, as a result of the tireless efforts of President Trump, who is truly a champion of peace, who worked day and night to make this world a place of peace and prosperity.”

In May, Shahbaz Sharif had won the favour of the US president by supporting Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering a ceasefire in the four-day military clash between Pakistan and India.
