NOWSHERA: Information of three police personnel who went missing from the Nizampur area of Nowshera district have surfaced.

According to reports, a Jirga is currently underway between local elders and a banned organization, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in which important progress is expected.

However, it is still not confirmed which group is holding the three policemen and what their demands are. No official confirmation or denial has been issued at the government level so far.

The three missing officials have been identified as Muharrar (clerk) Naeemullah, Assistant Muharrar Amir, and Constable Noor Islam – all posted at Nizampur Police Station.

Police officials said the three went missing on Thursday evening while they were inspecting checkpoints in the Peeran Kali area of Nizampur.

Since then, no contact could be established with them. Following their disappearance, heavy contingents of Nowshera Police were dispatched from Police Lines and a large-scale search operation has been launched to recover them.

All entry and exit routes of Nizampur have been sealed. Sources claim that the policemen were allegedly taken by militants to the mountainous areas of Nizampur, after which local elders initiated a Jirga with the militants for their safe recovery.

The DPO Nowshera could not be contacted for an official version despite repeated attempts. Nizampur is a sensitive area bordering Kohat and Attock districts and has seen an increase in militant activity in recent months. Police have registered a case and investigations are underway.
