PESHAWAR: Heavy rain and hailstorms lash different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for today, 6th October 2026.

The Central districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Charsadda and Peshawar, received rain with hailstorms and wind, while northern parts are also bracing for heavy rain today. The capital city woke up to thunder this morning. The current temperature is 26°C with 83% humidity. PMD says thunderstorms are likely to continue from 9 AM to 2 PM, with a 63% to 68% chance of rain.

Heavy rain and hailstorms occurred at various places in Nowshera city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing damage to crops and orchards. In addition, rivers and streams overflowed and water accumulated on roads. Thunderstorms with rain also occurred in Lower Dir and its surrounding areas.

In Tehsil Dargai of Malakand and other areas, the windscreens of parked vehicles were also broken at several places due to the severe hailstorm.

Light drizzling continues intermittently in Peshawar city. Heavy rain has also been forecast during the next 24 hours. Light rain continues in the federal capital Islamabad, and the concerned departments have been put on alert by the administration.

PMD says a westerly wave has entered the country and will affect KP from last night to 7th October. Heavy rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are expected in most districts of KP, including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Karak, Kurram, and Waziristan.

PMD warns that strong winds and hail can damage weak structures, electric poles, and solar panels. People are advised to stay indoors during the storm and take precautions.
