PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has expressed serious concern over the results of the written examination for Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate / Alaqa Qazi (BPS-18) and demanded withdrawal of the notification and revision of the results.

According to the results issued on September 30, 2026, for 105 vacancies, a total of 3,097 candidates had applied, while 1,024 candidates appeared in the examination. However, only 3 candidates were declared successful.

According to the Bar Council, in view of the shortage of judges and the huge backlog of pending cases, the success of only three candidates against 105 posts is alarming and raises questions about the examination standard and the recruitment processes.

The Bar Council has demanded that the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court must take notice of the matter and review the results and the examination process.

The Bar Council clarified that if appropriate steps are not taken, it will exercise its right to available legal recourse.

The Bar Council also demanded that in future, the recruitment of Civil Judges should be conducted through the Peshawar High Court instead of the Public Service Commission, so that the professional competence and legal expertise of experienced lawyers with longer practice can also be taken into consideration.
