NEW DELHI: Former Indian first-class cricketer Rachit Bhatia has allegedly claimed that five matches during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) were fixed and that he received ₹6 million for each match.
According to Indian media reports, the allegations emerged from a covert-camera investigation conducted by Tehelka’s Special Investigation Team. The investigation reportedly claimed that information about teams’ playing XIs during IPL 2025 was allegedly passed on to bookmakers based in London.
Bhatia’s name reportedly surfaced in the investigation, with allegations that he provided information related to the Chennai Super Kings in exchange for ₹6 million per match.
The former cricketer allegedly spoke to reporters last December about match-fixing activities and his purported role in them. According to Tehelka, the information was allegedly transmitted to bookmakers in London through Snapchat, with Bhatia reportedly making around ₹30 million from five matches.
The report also alleged that the player providing the information was a young wicketkeeper-batter. Cricket journalist Prateesh Haldar later identified the player on X as Vansh Bedi.
Bedi was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for ₹5.5 million at the IPL 2025 auction.
The Tehelka investigation also included allegations concerning alleged spot-fixing during the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Bhatia reportedly admitted to taking money from bookmakers to deliberately bowl two wide deliveries, allegedly receiving ₹800,000 for each wide.
The report further alleged that Bhatia was involved in an arrangement involving a Ranji Trophy team, where money was allegedly paid to secure a place in the squad.
According to the investigation, the alleged activities later extended to the Delhi Premier League, where ₹4 million per match was reportedly offered in exchange for information about playing XIs.
