LAHORE: Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, a senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan and former deputy emir of the party has passed away.
Hafiz Muhammad Idrees had been seriously ill and confined to bed for the last few weeks. In the wake of his demise, leaders and members of Jamaat-e-Islami and religious groups have mourned deeply over the death of Hafiz Muhammad Idrees.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman condoled the sad demise of Hafiz Muhammad Idrees and offered tributes to the late leader for his religious, political and organizational services. He prayed for the forgiveness of the dead soul and patience of the bereaved family.
Deputy Amir of the party, Liaquat Baloch, Dr Farid Ahmad Paracha and other central and provincial leaders have also condoled and prayed for elevation of the deceased souls to higher stations in the hereafter and patience of the bereaved family.
Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was counted amongst the important personalities of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. He has always been engaged in religious, preaching, political and organizational works.
He served for an extended period as the deputy emir of Jamaat-e-Islami. He also held key positions including central Qayyim (secretary-general) of the party and Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab emir.
A scholar with extensive knowledge of Islamic studies, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was also a noted speaker and author. He wrote numerous books on the Quran, Hadith, Seerah and various religious and intellectual subjects.
He was also among the central members of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba and played a role in the religious and intellectual training of young people.
