PESHAWAR: The Grade 12 examination results present a mixed picture of academic performance, with just over half of the candidates securing success while a significant number failed to pass.
According to the reported figures, a total of 66,735 students appeared in the Grade 12 examinations. Of these, 35,103 students passed, while 30,878 failed and 754 were absent. The overall success rate stood at 52.60 percent.
Female students in government institutions recorded the highest success rate among the reported categories. Of the 21,496 female candidates enrolled in government institutions, 16,064 passed, 5,328 failed, and 104 were absent, resulting in a success rate of 74.73 percent.
Male students in government institutions, however, recorded a considerably lower success rate of 39.05 percent. Out of 35,227 candidates, 13,756 passed, while 21,135 failed and 336 remained absent.
Female students in private institutions also performed relatively well. Of the 3,426 candidates, 2,224 passed, 1,129 failed, and 73 were absent, giving them a success rate of 64.92 percent.
Among male students in private institutions, 6,586 candidates appeared in the examinations. Of these, 3,059 passed, 3,286 failed, and 241 were absent, resulting in a success rate of 46.45 percent.
The figures show that female students recorded higher success rates than male students in both government and private institutions. The results also highlight the considerable gap between the performance of different groups of students.
