QUETTA: Questions have been raised over the movement of marble trucks reportedly linked to Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) leader Akhtar Mengal amid attacks and threats targeting transporters in Balochistan.
According to a report published by Azaad Urdu, trucks said to be associated with Akhtar Mengal have continued transporting marble from Balochistan to Karachi without interruption, while other transport operators have faced attacks and security threats.
The report claimed that trucks allegedly linked to Mengal have not been targeted in attacks attributed to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), raising questions on social media about whether they receive any special protection or exemption.
It further alleged that the continued movement of the trucks had fueled speculation about a possible understanding between Mengal and the BLA. However, the report did not provide independent evidence establishing such a link.
The report called for a thorough investigation into the matter to determine why the trucks reportedly continue their operations despite security concerns affecting other transporters.
Akhtar Mengal, a veteran Baloch politician and former chief minister of Balochistan, has previously spoken publicly about the province’s political and security issues. He resigned from the National Assembly in September 2024, citing his inability to effectively represent Balochistan’s grievances.
The BLA has been involved in an ongoing insurgency in Balochistan and has carried out attacks against civilians, security forces and infrastructure.
