New York has topped the list of the world’s 100 best sports cities, while the Swiss firm Burson ranks Paris second and Los Angeles third in the Sports Cities ranking for 2026.

The Burson ranking includes 100 cities around the world that have a strong connection with sports, but no city from Pakistan is included in the list.

The Sports Cities ranking includes opinions from experts, sports media, and global sports leaders, and analysis of social media and media coverage was also included in the ranking.

After remaining number one for three consecutive years, Paris moved to second place in the 2026 ranking, while New York moved up from third place in the last ranking to take the first position.

Major reasons for New York’s improvement in the ranking include the NBA Championship and the FIFA World Cup final. In the ranking of global sports cities, London is fourth, and Madrid is fifth.

In this list, Barcelona is sixth, Milan seventh, and Lausanne eighth, while Manchester is 10th, Washington 11th, and Miami 12th. Tokyo is 16th, Sydney 24th, and Dubai 29th, while Mumbai is 51st, New Delhi 65th, and Riyadh 68th; Cape Town is 85th, Jeddah 98th, and Sapporo is 99th.
