KARACHI: A 15-year-old boy was shot dead during a robbery resistance in Karachi’s Manghopir Mehran City area when dacoits once again used police uniform and opened firing on single brother of eight sisters.
According to the victim’s father, six armed robbers entered their home, two of whom were wearing police uniforms. Hearing a noise, the father and son came out of their rooms when the suspects opened fire.
Rosham was hit in the chest and died on the spot. The father said that for the last 20 to 25 days, suspects in police uniforms have been committing crimes in the area. He added that they had informed police about the incidents in the locality but police not taking the issue seriously.
Rosham was a matriculation student and the only son among eight sisters. The family has refused to bury the body until the culprits are arrested and has warned of protests outside New Nazimabad and Bilawal House.
55 Killed This Year in Robbery Resistance Cases in Karachi
Street crime has once again become a threat to citizens’ lives in Karachi. The number of people killed this year while resisting robbery or motorcycle snatching has reached 55, including two police officials.
In Old Golimar, near Mewa Shah Graveyard, armed suspects opened fire during an alleged robbery on Monday. As a result, 25-30-year-old Abdul Rehman was killed and 55-year-old Atiq was injured.
Police said the deceased worked at a nearby warehouse. On September 6, an incident occurred in Liaquatabad. According to police, armed men entered an LPG shop near Liaquatabad No. 10 and attempted a robbery. On resistance, they opened fire, killing a 28-year-old man.
The suspects fled with a motorcycle, mobile phones, and cash.On July 1, in Allah Wala Town, Korangi, a young man named Abbas was killed during a motorcycle snatching when he resisted. Police said the deceased worked as a street vendor.Similarly, on July 21, a citizen named Naseem was shot dead during an alleged robbery in the P.E.C.H.S area.
The continuous incidents of citizens being killed while resisting robbery in 2026 show that street crime remains a major threat to the people of Karachi. After every incident, a family loses a loved one, while many others are injured.
