DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana 10 percent of her match fee for a Level 1 breach of the governing body’s code of conduct during the Asia Cup match against India.
Fatima Sana was penalised after she gestured towards the pavilion following the dismissal of Indian batter Shafali Verma during the match.
According to the ICC, Fatima Sana was fined 10 percent of her match fee and also received one demerit point for the offence.
The Pakistan captain admitted to the breach, meaning no formal hearing was required.
With the latest penalty, Fatima Sana now has two demerit points accumulated over the past 24 months. Her first demerit point was awarded on August 6, 2025, during the T20 International against Ireland in Dublin.
The ICC’s disciplinary action comes as Pakistan continues their campaign in the Asia Cup, with Fatima Sana leading the side.
PCB Considers Holding PSL in January Next Year
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and owners of all eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are considering a proposal to hold next year’s edition of the tournament in January instead of April or May.
According to a report by cricket website ESPNcricinfo, the proposal was discussed during a meeting of the PSL Governing Council in London, where various matters concerning the next edition were reviewed.
The report said the proposed shift was prompted by concerns over limited advertising revenue during April and May.
Franchise owners also questioned whether they would receive their full share of broadcast revenue regardless of when the tournament is held. Concerns were reportedly raised over advertising income amid uncertainty about whether television rights would generate the expected revenue.
Under the existing agreement, all franchises receive 95 per cent of broadcast revenue from the central revenue pool.
The proposed change remains under consideration, with further consultations expected before a final decision is taken.
