Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legal team member Naeem Haider Panjutha said that the constitution does not give authority to the governor to object or to reject resignation.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi’s objection to Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation is a violation of constitutional limits, which the party rejects. Naeem Panjutha said that the governor did not cite any provision of the constitution in support of his move, but only claimed a difference in signature. According to him, “The governor has tried to create an incident, which we do not accept.”
He clarified that Ali Amin Gandapur had submitted a written resignation and also released a video message in which he expressed his consent. According to Naeem Panjutha, objection to the signature can be raised only when the person concerned is not available, which is not true in this case.
He claimed that “the Chief Minister will be elected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this morning, and Sohail Afridi will be the new Chief Minister.” It should be noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi had returned Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation, citing a difference in the signature on his resignation. The letter issued by the Governor stated that the signatures on the resignations given on October 8 and 11 are different, hence further clarification is required on them.
On the other hand, Ali Amin Gandapur has reacted on social media and said that his resignation is completely constitutional and the signatures are valid, and the resignation of October 8 has now been accepted after being rejected earlier.
