PESHAWAR: As Artificial Intelligence (AI) rapidly finds its way into healthcare, security, education and everyday life, researchers and experts will set to gather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to discuss how the technology can be used for a safer and more peaceful world.
In this connection, the 8th International Multidisciplinary Research Conference (IMRC-2026) will be held from September 10 to 12 at the Bara Gali Summer Campus of the University of Peshawar. The event is being jointly organized by Sarhad University Peshawar and University of Peshawar in collaboration with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University , University of Buner and Women University Mardan.
Titled “Use of Artificial Intelligence to Protect Lives and Promote Peace: A Global Perspective,” the three-day conference will bring together researchers, academics, professionals, policymakers and technology experts to examine the growing role of AI in tackling some of the world’s major challenges.
The discussions will go beyond computing and technology. The conference programme includes areas such as healthcare, cybersecurity, disaster prediction, smart infrastructure, education, public policy, governance, agriculture, environmental sustainability, media and peace and conflict studies.
According to the organisers, particular attention will be given to the responsible use of AI and its potential to improve public safety, strengthen healthcare, support disaster resilience and contribute to better governance and social well-being.
The conference schedule includes keynote sessions, technical presentations, poster presentations, networking opportunities and research discussions. The opening ceremony is scheduled for September 10, followed by sessions covering different areas of multidisciplinary research.
The event also offers awards for outstanding research, including a ‘Best Conference Paper Award, session-level Best Paper Awards and a Best Poster Presentation Award’. Selected papers are also expected to have opportunities for publication in HEC-recognised journals.
As AI is increasingly influencing decisions in fields ranging from medicine to national security, the conference is expected to provide a platform for researchers and policymakers to discuss not only what the technology can do, but also how it should be used responsibly.
