PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has decided to intensify its engagement with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) ahead of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister election.
According to party sources, PTI leaders are scheduled to hold another round of talks with JUI officials today to seek their support in the upcoming vote.
On Saturday, a PTI delegation met with JUI’s Maulana Ata-ul-Haq Darvesh, urging the party not to field a rival candidate against PTI’s nominee for chief minister. The party has also reached out to its KP chairman, Mahmood Khan, to discuss the evolving political situation.
Provincial President Junaid Akbar said PTI is making concerted efforts to ensure that its candidate for the chief minister’s office is elected unopposed.
