LONDON: Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq’s further participation in the ongoing second Test against England at Lord’s will depend on his fitness after he suffered a calf injury.
Imam sustained a calf strain on the opening day of the Test. Scans later confirmed a low-grade strain, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB said its medical team is monitoring the left-handed batter and that a decision on his further participation in the match will be based on his recovery.
The second Test between Pakistan and England is currently underway at Lord’s. England finished the first day on 248 for nine after Pakistan opted to bowl first.

Meanwhile, England were bowled out for 290 in their first innings on the second day of the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s on Friday.
Jamie Smith top-scored for England with 61 runs, while Jordan Cox contributed 55. For Pakistan, fast bowlers Mohammad Abbas claimed four wickets and Mohammad Ali took three.
England resumed their innings on the second morning with Gus Atkinson on 34 and Josh Tong on one. The hosts had finished the opening day on 248 for nine after 56 overs.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to field, with their pace attack making the most of the favourable bowling conditions and putting England’s top order under pressure.
After England’s early batting collapse, Cox and Smith steadied the innings with composed half-centuries, scoring 55 and 61 respectively, before Pakistan’s bowlers wrapped up the innings at 290.
