SWABI: Three people were killed on the spot and one was seriously injured in a collision between a speeding rickshaw and a dumper truck on Manki Road in Swabi district on Thursday.
According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred when the rickshaw, traveling at high speed, collided with an oncoming dumper. The incident was so severe that the rickshaw was completely turned to scrap.
Upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122 medical teams and ambulances reached the scene. Rescuers extricated the bodies and the injured person from the mangled rickshaw and provided first aid.
The injured was shifted to the nearest hospital in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased were moved to District Headquarters Hospital Swabi for post-mortem.
Police have launched an investigation and collected evidence from the site. Initial reports suggest the crash was caused by overspeeding and reckless driving.
The dumper driver has been taken into custody for further questioning. Residents have urged the administration to take immediate action to control heavy traffic and overspeeding on Manki Road, saying accidents occur frequently on this route.
