KHYBER: Students of Government Postgraduate College, Landi Kotal, severely criticised the college administration for closing its admission portal for BA and BS admission, which have not only wasted their valuable time but also put at stake their academic year.
While holding a press conference at the District Press Club Khyber, he said that the admission portal for intermediate pass students is still closed, due to which they are not getting admissions, while their valuable time is being wasted. The University of Peshawar and the Higher Education, and the Secretary of Education do not seem serious about solving this problem, which is increasing the problems of the students.
Students’ Union President Dawood Shinwari said in a press conference at the District Press Club Khyber that the abolition of the BS program in the college is tantamount to darkening the future of the students. Dawood said that new experiments are being conducted on students in the education system, sometimes BS and sometimes AD programs are implemented in the college, which threatens the future of the students.
He opposed the associate degree and said that a two-year degree will increase the difficulties in their further educational journey, along with scholarships and jobs abroad, so the government should immediately withdraw the decision and expand the BS program. The college students said that they are in touch with the provincial ministers and students of other colleges in this regard, and a plan of action will be decided in this regard. They appealed to the concerned authorities to open the portal for admissions of new students soon, otherwise they will be forced to launch a protest movement and take to the streets to challenge the decision.
