ISLAMAbAD: Islamabad is experiencing heavy rain this morning with the temperature at 24°C and humidity reaching 97%. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy thunderstorms for the capital today with a 100% chance of rain.
Heavy thunderstorms are likely between 10 AM and 12 PM, after which showers will gradually ease and the sky will turn mostly sunny by the afternoon. By evening, clear conditions are expected.
In Peshawar, the weather is mostly cloudy at 27°C, which feels like 31°C due to high humidity. The city is expected to see light rain in the morning with a 70% chance, followed by a hot and sunny afternoon with temperatures rising to 32°C.
Scattered thunderstorms are likely late at night after 11 PM. The air quality in Peshawar is also moderate.
Across upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and windstorms are likely during the weekend. The National Disaster Management Authority has advised tourists and non-essential travelers to avoid trips to northern areas due to the expected weather. Officials have also warned of possible waterlogging in low-lying areas of Islamabad because of the heavy rainfall expected today.
For Friday, Islamabad may witness thunderstorms in the morning with a 50% chance of rain, while Peshawar is forecast to remain hot and mostly dry with only a slight chance of rain.
