RAWALPINDI: The Armed Forces of Pakistan on Thursday paid tribute to Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider, on the 55th anniversary of his martyrdom.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Armed Forces solemnly commemorated the anniversary and paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice in defence of the country.

Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed displayed exceptional courage, determination and devotion to duty during the 1971 war. In the face of an extraordinary challenge, he made the ultimate sacrifice to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and honour.

The ISPR said his selfless act remains a lasting example of courage, loyalty and commitment to the defence of the motherland.

The people and Armed Forces of Pakistan paid solemn homage to the national hero and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.

The ISPR said the immortal legacy of Rashid Minhas Shaheed would continue to inspire the nation and the Armed Forces as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, patriotism and devotion to duty.
